Let Freedom Ring...and Ear Rings!

Wendesday, March 18th, Kevin became a U.S. Citizen! The ceremony was pretty nice and the judge was an immigrant too who became a U.S. Citizen in the 70s so it was cool to hear his story. Kayli and I had to watch on a screen in an overflow room, which I wasn't too happy about. We got there a little before 1:00 and it started at 2:00, but there were sooooo many people there. 199 people became U.S. Citizens and Mexico had the most people represented, 28. Other nationalities included China, Vitenam, Peru, Argentina, and Austrailia to name a few. It has been a four year process, so we are excited to finally be done!

After the ceremony we stopped at IKEA on the way home and bought a new bookshelf and ate at the restaurant. Later that night we met Kevin's mom and sister at the mall to eat and get ice cream. While we were there, we decided to pierce Kayli's ears!! We had been wanting to do it for a while, but never had time. They won't pierce infant's ear under 3 months old.

Here's the before...

Here's the during...

And here's the after...

She was fine right after, she just didn't like me having to hold her still. What a cutie!!

4 Months Old!

So, Kayli just turned 4 moths old and she also had her second Doctor's visit. She weighed 15 lbs. 15.5 oz. and is 26 inches long! The Dr. said she looks great and healthy. He also said we can start introducing cereal and other "soilds" which we are excited about! Kayli also got her next batch of immunizations. She didn't cry as much this time, so we weren't as traumatized as last time. She made it the whole rest of the day without getting a fever, althogh she was alittle fussy...but this morning she had a fever of 101 and has been hot all day. :( But she is still eating well and she is not fussy or crying, so that's good.

This past month Kayli has learned to do a lot of things. She found her hands and loves to stare at them. She holds them up to her face and can look at them as she moves them. She also learned how to do "blueberries" (that's what I call them) where she blows air through her lips to make them vibrate (not with her tongue though, like a raspberry). It is so cute to see her do! Kayli rolled over from her tummy to her back twice this past month, but hasn't done it again since. She also loves to stand and doesn't like sitting much anymore. We also learned about baby massage this month and it is a great way to bond with Kayli. She is still sleeping great through the night, between 8-10 hours a night!

3 Months Old!

Kayli is 3 months old! She is getting so big! This month I went back to work and Kevin has been taking care of Kayli during the day and then either going to work or school as soon as I get home. The fridge is packed full of frozen breast milk and so far everything has been good. It is really hard to get out of the house in the morning, but once I get to work, the time flies and soon I get to be home again with my baby.

Kayli got sick this month with a cold which lasted a week. We learned a lot about how to take care of a sick baby. I think the most important thing we learned was how to correctly use the mucus bulb sucker! First, put three drops of warm water in the nostril and let it sit for one minute, then stick bulb in nostril and close the other nostril with your finger, then suck away! It works great!

This month Kayli really likes to stand on her own two feet, her legs are really strong and she likes to be up looking around at everything! She continues to smile a lot and makes lots of sounds. She evern laughed a few times when I was shutting the blinds in the living room, she must have thought it sounded so funny, but we haven't been able to make her laugh again, yet.
